Clarity
The clarity or a diamond refers to its internal features (inclusions)
or
surface characteristics (blemishes) within, or on a diamond. It
is
determined by the degree to which it is free from inclusions (naturally
occurring flaw). A minute trace of non-crystallised carbon or
small
non-diamond crystals, inside or on the surface of a diamond, often
called
nature’s fingerprints. The number, type, size and position
of these
inclusions can and will affect the clarity, and ultimately the
value of
the stone. Many are invisible to the naked eye and require a standard
10x
magnification loupe to be detected. The fewer inclusions the rarer
the
stone. Upon reaching I1 the stone is no longer considered to be
eye clean.
Inclusions are now visible to the naked eye.
